Welcome to First Films
In 1913, first-timers Jesse L. Lasky (a vaudeville producer), Cecil B. DeMille (a failed actor/writer), and Sam Goldfish (a glove maker) produced The Squaw Man, Hollywood’s first feature film.
Not only did they make a hit film—they created a new industry.
Their company became Paramount Pictures. Our company, FIRST FILMS, is producing Whatever Happened to Hollywood?—based on the memoirs of Jesse Lasky Jr., who witnessed the birth of the industry, the rise of the stars, and worked with the greatest talents of the Golden Age.
This is a story no one has told on screen before
— from the man who was there.
